Pre + Post Tan Care Guide
TAN PREP.
+ SHOWER, SHAVE, AND EXFOLIATE!
+ Thoroughly exfoliate from head to toe with a scrub, glove or mitt at least one day prior to appointment.
+ Arrive with clean, fresh skin! Come free of lotion, deodorant, makeup & oils.
+ Complete all other beauty services including nails , waxing , facials , and massages prior to your tan appointment. Doing any services listed after your tan can cause the tan to fade prematurely.
+ Wear dark, loose fitted clothing + open toed sandals. If you wear tight clothing you will risk having streaks and patches.
during DEVELOPMENT.
+ STAY DRY!
+ Allow your skin to stay dry post tan; avoid water + excessive sweating for the first 8 hours.
+ You will leave with a topical bronzer on your skin: this is not your actual tan as that takes a full 8 hours to develop.
+ The bronzers may smudge and move around on your skin, but this will not negatively affect your result - it is just the tan solution moving around on your skin.
The first Rinse.
The purpose of the 'first rinse' is to remove those bronzers and slowdown the HA after a development process to keep that fresh new tan from turning an unnatural or unwanted colour. How it is done, is extremely important and is a crucial part of the process that shouldn't be overlooked.
HOW IT SHOUDL BE DONE
+ Avoid using soap for your first rinse.
+ This is a quick rinse, not a shower. This is NOT the time to wash your body, hair, or shave your legs.
+ Rinse with lukewarm water ONLY until the water going down the drain is clear - it shouldn't take longer than 1-2 minutes.
+ The first time you shower you’ll see A LOT of colour washing off. Don’t worry, you are not losing your tan, it’s only the cosmetic bronzer that was applied.
You’ll be left with a perfectly glowing sun kissed tan!
RAPID TANS
+ The life of a rapid tan is a bit different but please just trust the process! At first it will be a little too dark, after your rinse it will be a little too light and after 12-24 hours it will be fully developed and just right!
AFTER CARE.
+ DO NOT go more than 24 hours after your appointment to shower.
If you choose to leave your tan on longer than the directed time you run the risk of the tan grabbing and also dehydrating the skin causing the tan to fade patchy.
+ Do not apply moisturiser, deodorant, perfumes, or foundation until after your first shower.
+ All tans will take anywhere from 8-12 hours to fully develop. Any product applied to the skin during this time can hinder the results.
PRESERVING YOUR TAN.
+ Acknowledge that the following activities can strip your spray tan faster: Chlorine, salt water, long hot showers/baths, saunas and excessive swaeting.
+ Be sure to PAT yourself dry. DO NOT rub your skin dry after showering.
+ Moisturize frequently! Moisturizing is essential for a longer lasting and even fading tan.
+ Use sulfate free and oil free products. Artificial fragrances and mineral oil based products will strip your tan very quickly.
+ Continue to wear SPF. Having a sunless tan does NOT prevent your skin from sun damage.
